CWC - YOUR MISSION, SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT
The latest Mission Impossible movie Fallout (released Summer 2018), features a CWC mechanical stopwatch, which was selected by the film makers as it was the ideal stopwatch for Tom Cruise to hold whilst timing a critical sequence in the movie.
The movie is action-packed from end to end with great stunts, and features a full-screen shot of the CWC mechanical 60 minute timer - Swiss-made, high quality stopwatch.
CWC has been making stopwatches for military and commercial use since the 1970s. Every newsroom in the country used CWC or similar mechanical stopwatches and many are probably still in use.
Hundreds were supplied to the BBC and ITV, together with CWC mechanical chronographs for reporters - made to order according to customers' requirements.
The image shown here is our photo; you will have to watch the movie to see Tom Cruise in action holding the CWC stopwatch. See A History of CWC.

Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre is a new action film from director Guy Ritchie, starring Jason Statham as Orson Fortune, a suave and skilled secret agent, and Hugh Grant as a billionaire arms dealer. The movie follows their action-packed journey as they attempt to stop a group of corrupt officials from stealing a deadly weapon.
While the film is full of exciting action scenes, one detail that has caught the attention of many viewers is the watches worn by the characters. Specifically, Bugzy Malone, who plays JJ Davies, is seen sporting the CWC Pilots Chronograph and Peter Ferdinando's character Mike, the villainous mastermind behind the heist, wears the CWC SBS. Lastly Carey Elwes is spotted wearing the CWC Sonar Watch

The CWC Pilots Chronograph is a classic aviation watch designed for pilots and features easy-to-read numerals and sub-dials for timing events. On the other hand, the CWC SBS is a sturdy and reliable diving watch designed for use by the Special Boat Service.
The inclusion of these watches adds a layer of authenticity to the film, as both timepieces are known for their durability and dependability in high-pressure situations. It's no surprise that the characters in Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre would rely on these watches to keep them on time and on track during their dangerous missions.

The story behind the Cabot Fifty strap
The Cabot Fifty strap is an appropriate finishing touch to the Cabot Fifty timepiece, made in England utilising material from original World War II denison parachute smocks that were worn by paratroopers dropped into enemy territory in Europe. The smocks are incredibly valuable wartime relics, and again are a testament to the British manufacturing of the day, creating a strap that could only be described as the perfect companion to the Cabot Fifty watch.
"The Denison was a true smock, in that it was pulled over the head. There was a large opening that closed with a zipper, along with a collar lined in wool flannel. The Denison was made from heavy cotton twill to make it windproof; its primary purpose was to keep the soldier warm during the flight and the parachute descent. Unfortunately, however, it was not waterproof, and tended to get quite heavy in the rain. Once on the ground, it was intended as a practical combat uniform. As such, it was the first officially-sanctioned British item of dress to be camouflaged. For the earliest versions, camouflage fabric was not available; sand-coloured cloth was hand-painted with green and brown patches, using mops or large brushes. This camouflage method was developed by Major Denison, for whom the garment was named. Not surprisingly, the paint tended to wash out; eventually, screen-printed camouflage material was produced, but the brush-stroke effect was retained. Each bolt of camouflage fabric was slightly different from the next." Learn more
