For a true military-specification watch, reliability in extreme conditions is the most important factor. One feature that makes a significant difference is the fixed bar, sometimes called a solid bar, which secures the strap to the watch case.
Fixed bars are non-removable metal pins that keep the watch secured to the strap. Unlike standard spring bars, they cannot be accidentally pushed out, which prevents the watch from detaching from the strap during heavy activity.
In practical terms, this ensures that the watch remains secure on the wrist, even in demanding situations such as diving, parachuting, or military field operations.
Fixed bars have been used in military watches for decades and this design principle remains standard in military-issued timepieces, including modern CWC watches. Our stainless steel watches feature bars that are welded to the lugs. With our Titanium range, the bars are integrated into the main body of the case. Both methods serve the same purpose.
At Cabot Watch Company, every watch is built with fixed bars where required. This is consistent with our commitment to:
While fixed bars may seem like a small design detail, they are actually a critical feature for military reliability, and ensures that a CWC watch can be trusted in the field and beyond.
