Made in Switzerland to Ministry of Defence requirements, the CWC General Service Pocket Watch has been produced in limited quantities for issue to the Royal Navy, other branches of the British Armed Forces and Commonwealth forces.
Some military equipment evolves.
Some simply endures.
At its heart is the Swiss-made Unitas 6497-1, a fully jewelled, hand-wound mechanical movement chosen for its robustness, reliability and long-term serviceability. Wound by hand and built without dependence on a battery, it retains the essential character of traditional military timekeeping.
The chrome-plated brass case and acrylic crystal are deliberately straightforward, reflecting the practical design language of military equipment rather than modern watchmaking fashion. Luminova luminous markings provide clear visibility when light is limited.
The pocket watch occupies a different place in military history from the wristwatch, but the purpose remains the same: reliable timekeeping when it matters.
Supplied as an official Royal Navy and Commonwealth issue item, the CWC Pocket Watch continues a form of military timekeeping that has largely disappeared from modern service.
Purpose-built.
Built to endure.
It's a great pocket watch using a robust modern movement which can handle a few bumps. The lume is fantastic and is an absolute rarity with pocket watches both vintage and modern.
This is a great looking watch. Unfortunately it doesn’t actually tell the time - runs very fast. So good to look at but not functional for its core purpose.
We tried to contact you last year about your pocket watch but you did not get back to us. As these pocket watches are mechanical, there is a degree of tolerance, usually +/- a few seconds per day, but this can be improved through regulation of the movement. If a pocket watch is running fast (beyond the specification), we would of course accept it back for regulation or replacement.
I miss the old paper packaging. There is nothing
to do with the x bar holder.
