CWC G10 FATBOY-80,
Nicknamed "Fatboy" by collectors worldwide, due to the fatter case made to fit the early Swiss movements that were much thicker than today's ETA Swiss movements.
The dial and hands are light vintage Super-LumiNova and are extremely close to the original Tritium dials and hands.
The G10 Fatboy-80 has the old CWC logo and circle T for historical correctness, which was only used for two years before 1982 when the CWC logo in the oval came into effect.
Everything about the G10 Fatboy 1980 Reissue has been produced in Switzerland to recreate this historic timepiece. A completely new deep Fatboy case, dial, hands, even the look of the battery hatch has been matched to the original.
Powering the G10 Fatboy behind the scenes is a brand new ETA F06 range quartz movement, the next generation of reliable and durable 100% Swiss-made movements.

I opted for the fatboy G10 because I read that it is a faithful remake of the earlier G10, with its historical provenance, and I think I made the right decision - It doesn't disappoint! However, because of its thickness, wearing it on the supplied NATO strap will make the watch sit very high on the wrist. I opted to wear it on an open-end leather strap. Lug width is just under 19mm...The size is perfect on my wrist, and overall dial legibility is great. You can simply glance at the watch to tell time due to its simple dial layout. Lume is good, but doesn't last very long. You might want to go with a watch with H3 markers if you want legibility in complete darkness. Accuracy is great & there is no ghost date position on this version.
I ordered a CWC G10 Fatboy-80 Quartz Re-Issue and, although Royal Mail let us both down badly, CWC’s customer service was absolutely outstanding. They were friendly, proactive, and genuinely committed to making sure I got my order on time — even lining up a DHL replacement if needed.
The watch itself is superb, but what really sets CWC apart is the way they look after their customers. Problems happen, but CWC showed real integrity and care in how they handled it. I wouldn’t hesitate to order from them again and highly recommend both the quality of their watches and their customer service.
Only watch I will ever need
I love this watch haven't worn one in 20 years. Only problem is that of course it's not waterproof but looks great especially with the case cover I'd buy it from this company again.
As someone who has owned a few original 1980 fat boys, along with plenty of vintage and modern CWC’s this 1980 Fat Boy re-issue really hits all the notes, it’s a really faithful re-issue which gives all the aesthetic’s of the original, but with modern reliability, and a fantastic and accurate movement, and not to mention it’s cheaper than an original, the watch oozes character and charm, and is a joy to wear.
