Due to numerous requests for upgrades, this watch now comes with sapphire glass as standard.
In 1983, CWC produced the first quartz divers' watch for the Royal Navy and this reissue has been made to the same specifications, with SuperLuminova (as Tritium is no longer available). The T on the dial remains for historical correctness.
The quartz version was specified by the M.O.D. to include a polished case, sword minute hand, Tritium dial and luminous bezel. This continued throughout the 1980s. In the early '90s, the hands and bezel changed.
We take great pride in producing timepieces worn by British forces for fifty years.
Another stunning watch from CWC. Very well finished, crown screws down nicely and great bezel action. All in all very pleased with this purchase and usual great service from Silvermans.
Very glad I went for this over the regular diver. The faux patina indices give this watch another dimension, and make it perfect for literally any strap.
Watch hasn't lost a second since I got it. In fact it's gained 2 seconds in 2 weeks. Not bad. Also for anyone wondering, you can request this on another strap if you don't want the standard issue grey.
Being an army veteran I’m certainly no stranger to CWC. Indeed I’m the proud owner of a 1976 W10, a 1997 G10 and a G22.
However, as much as I love those watches I find myself these days not wearing them as much because they’re a bit on the small side - Enter this stunning beast of a watch. I can’t take my eyes off it. To me it epitomises the 80’s with its faux yellow indices and eye catching polished steel. Paired with the waxy brown leather strap and it looks awesome. I also had a regimental strap made which looks equally awesome. Yes I have several other luxury watches, but for me this has taken the mantel of becoming my daily watch because I know it will take whatever I throw at it! I’ve had so many comments including from my son who is currently serving…… He claimed he needed it more than me, needless to say the answer was no and I pointed him in the direction of CWC!! Haha. Who am I kidding!! Truth is, I know I’ll end up buying one for his birthday!! Thank you CWC, I already have my eyes on a couple more models!
This watch has quickly been my daily watch. It is a real GADA watch - just love it. The history is great too - you can feel the history when you wear the watch. More to come :-)
So, I picked up a CWC RN Diver last year. I was really drawn to that vintage-inspired aesthetic in a modern dive watch. The milspec bezel and the lume details were a big plus for me. And I do appreciate a good NATO or Zulu strap.
However, after wearing this on and off for the past year, I'm starting to feel the price point is hard to justify.
The finish, for example, isn't what I'd hoped for. There's a noticeable mark in the case polishing, which is disappointing. I own other watches at half the cost that seem to have a better overall build quality.
Something else I find a bit odd is that CWC has a wide selection of NATOs available on their site, but they don't offer buyers any choice regarding the strap colour included with their watch purchase.
So, to sum up: it's a good-looking watch, certainly. But the quality feels fairly average for the money you pay.
