1983 Royal Navy Divers Quartz Re-Issue Watch (RN300-83 QS60)

Item code: 73589

Due to numerous requests for upgrades, this watch now comes with sapphire glass as standard.

In 1983, CWC produced the first quartz divers' watch for the Royal Navy and this reissue has been made to the same specifications, with SuperLuminova (as Tritium is no longer available). The T on the dial remains for historical correctness.

The quartz version was specified by the M.O.D. to include a polished case, sword minute hand, Tritium dial and luminous bezel. This continued throughout the 1980s. In the early '90s, the hands and bezel changed.

We take great pride in producing timepieces worn by British forces for fifty years.

Vintage Vibes, Modern Price Tag...

So, I picked up a CWC RN Diver last year. I was really drawn to that vintage-inspired aesthetic in a modern dive watch. The milspec bezel and the lume details were a big plus for me. And I do appreciate a good NATO or Zulu strap.

However, after wearing this on and off for the past year, I'm starting to feel the price point is hard to justify.

The finish, for example, isn't what I'd hoped for. There's a noticeable mark in the case polishing, which is disappointing. I own other watches at half the cost that seem to have a better overall build quality.

Something else I find a bit odd is that CWC has a wide selection of NATOs available on their site, but they don't offer buyers any choice regarding the strap colour included with their watch purchase.

So, to sum up: it's a good-looking watch, certainly. But the quality feels fairly average for the money you pay.

Wonderfull

My fifth CWC because they are addictive. Now I'm waiting for the Fatboy. The quality is excellent and the emotions these watches generate are something no other can offer me. I'm German, but I'm passionate about Great Britain and its history, and especially its military history. The customer service is really great and Rachel always has a friendly and quick response to customer questions. Keep up the good work!
