1970s spec watch strap, brown leather and nylon.
Made by CWC, these are made to the MOD spec issued to RAF during the 70s and 80s.
This Def Stan specifies the "wrist watch strap (leather/nylon)" to be used by the Air Force Department of the Ministry of Defence and the "wrist watch strap nylon" to be used by Navy and Army department.
Worn on general service and chronographs, there will be a gap in the lugs when worn on chronographs, which has always been the the issue spec.
18mm strap, and the length is 250mm, with a supple leather bund type leather pad.

I have a Mellor 72 that I really like but felt a bit too small. I never managed to pair with the right strap. The RAF 74 did exactly the job by ‘broadening’ the watch. Only remark would that it is a bit big for my small wrist. A smaller size could be a winner. Again a great job from CWC.
