Produced by CWC since the late 1990s, the RN300 Automatic offers the proven design of the Royal Navy Diver combined with the character and craftsmanship of a top grade Swiss mechanical movement.
Some watches redefine a design.
This one simply changed the way it beats.
Externally, the RN300 remains faithful to the Royal Navy Quartz Diver. It shares the same 300-metre stainless steel case, unidirectional bezel, screw-down crown, fixed strap bars and unmistakable military profile. The only visible differences are the word Automatic on the dial and the addition of the date function.
Early RN300 models featured tritium (T) dial markings. As luminous technology evolved, Super-LumiNova replaced tritium, while production later transitioned to the Swiss-made Sellita SW200-1 Top Grade movement following the discontinuation of the ETA 2824.
Although the movement has evolved over the years, the philosophy has remained the same: to offer the authentic Royal Navy Diver with the enduring appeal of a self-winding mechanical watch.

My fourth watch from CWC and my first automatic. Absolutely love it. Having a mechanical, sweeping seconds hand version of my titanium 300 diver is an ideal addition to the collection. I have been a watch collector for a few decades and generally have mechanical self wind or manual wind pieces. CWC switched me to the practicality of quartz but even so the build quality and timekeeping of this automatic stands up against some of my very much more expensive pieces. Thanks CWC and on to the fifth watch soon hopefully when stock reappears of what I have my eye on! For the record I purchased this from CWC’s vault, but it’s basically new and unused as far as I can see.
Top grade Sellita is great for the price, most other automatic watches with Eta 2824 and its derivatives in this price range use lower spec basic or elabore grades. Seiko would sell you a much worse 6R movement at this price. Mine runs 2 - 4 seconds a day fast while worn which is pretty darn good.
The lume is excellent (Seiko diver or better excellent). The bezel pip is aligned with the dial. The bezel action is reassuring with no back play. The date window aligns well with the cut out There are no applied polished markers, fancy bezel materials or glitzy dial materials or finishing or fancy hands; just everything matte, contrasting, well printed highly legible in different lighting. This should be no surprise considering the origins of the design.
Polishing looks decent. Brushing is ok. Transitions between polished and brushed are crisp. You can see the transition from the edges of the fixed bars and the case on the outside of the lugs in good lighting with good eyes looking for it specifically. This doesn't bother me, it may bother you.
The crown is unsigned but feels good to screw/unscrew and operate the movement.
The strap is comfortable with no spring bar point of failure.
Overall it feels and performs great with utilitarian good looks; very happy with mine.
I bought the watch because I needed a no nonsense military watch to wear to my farm, skiing, etc. It is superb.
Perfect watch, i absolutely love this piece.
Great watch, tough as nails but elegant and classy like no other. It’s my daily go to watch for my outdoors escapades.
