From 1972 until the early 2000s, tritium luminous paint was used on all CWC watches. This was specified by the M.O.D. as it requires no external light source. Tritium has a life of approximately 10 years in paint form and a radioactive half life of around 12-15 years.
The GS2000 general service watch was the first watch with Luminova on the dial. It was made for the M.O.D. and since then every model has gradually been phased over to super luminova, which is now used in the current issue SBS watch we supply.
Tritium paint is now banned in new watch production and the earlier tritium dials are becoming sought after by enthusiasts and collectors. Here you will find tritium dials and specials that we have from time to time.
