CWC GS Sapphire Watch, Stainless Steel with Black Dial

Ive had the watch since 2019. I wear it more than any other watch I own. Ive tried to replace it but I just cant find any other watch that covers so many bases as this. 200m WR, slim & svelte, sapphire crystal, with the combined polycarbonate case its impervious to any knocks or scratches (Although it does leave marring over time on the stainless body if dust/debris is caught between, polishing the bead blast finish away). I wear it to work with confidence. The NATO straps are easy to wash or replace. Simple but highly legible dial. Decent accuracy. No, its not an auto but I think this is why its my 'go-to' watch - its always ticking and set. The brand also has significant horological UK history. I bought the none-date version for a symmetrical dial face. Im here now because I have decided to purchase the date version as there is no doubt this will continue to be my daily for all time. Its out of stock. Damn.

Ok. Elephant in the room - the price. Well yes, I was sceptical and tried to talk myself out of it. You can buy many other watches with better movements for less. Full disclosure, I owned one and sold it. Only to regret it. The reason I missed it so much is due to the childhood memories of my first watch, a 1980 cwc that my Father bought for me from a magazine order via silvermans. The dial is a masterpiece, you will not find a more legible piece. This is the watch that should have been issued. Imagine those troops in the Falklands with their waterlogged fat boys. This is the ultimate field watch. Sapphire crystal and waterproof. The movement is pretty accurate, it's a quartz. It may not be thermocompensated etc but it's Swiss and it works. To show my appreciation, I had this one engraved, mostly to stop me selling it. I now have it on a cwc leather strap and it is not only the best size for me but also looks good with a leather jacket or a suit. It will more than pay for itself because I will have it for the rest of my life. Oh and another thing, it's a talking point in bars, but won't get stolen, how many other "exclusive" brands can one say that about?

Really positive experience purchasing a GS Sapphire from CWC as they to source a black face for me despite lack of stock. Fast delivery and good customer service. The watch is a super understated timepiece that hits the sweet spot.

I’ve an owned two “issued’ CWC G10’s in the past. They have never let me down, especially whilst serving as a Firefighter in the London Fire Brigade. As a result of this past experience, I trust the design and CWC’s reputation. Currently I do a lot of diving and also work in Hyperbaric medicine as an attendant inside a hyperbaric chamber. I chose the GS Sapphire primarily for its water/pressure resistance, so that I can wear the watch on the outside of my drysuit. It also performs very well as a normal, easy to read, analog watch whilst under pressure inside the hyperbaric chamber. I love its utilitarian looks and it’s simple, easy to read dial.

The choice to get a GS Sapphire ND was the right one! It's such a simple classic Field watch design and the additional Sapphire crystal with 200m WR just makes it even better! Many thanks to Alida for the personalized engraving, which makes it a life long keeper!
