Originally developed to meet a Ministry of Defence requirement for the Royal Navy.
Developed in 1980 to replace the Rolex Military Submariner as the Royal Navy's issued dive watch, the CWC RN Diver was engineered as a professional military instrument, built to perform wherever reliability could never be compromised. It marked the beginning of a new chapter in British military diving watches, carrying forward a lineage that continues today.
The original automatic model served briefly before the Ministry of Defence adopted quartz technology. In 1983, CWC produced the first quartz dive watch issued to the Royal Navy, combining the proven design of the automatic RN Diver with the accuracy, durability and low-maintenance benefits of a Swiss quartz movement.

For more than four decades, successive generations of Royal Navy divers have relied upon the RN Diver, establishing it as one of Britain's longest-serving and most recognisable military dive watches.
While materials, manufacturing and technology have evolved, its purpose has not.
The current RN Diver remains faithful to the original military specification, combining proven design with modern Swiss manufacturing, sapphire crystal and contemporary luminous materials.
This is not a reissue.
It is the latest evolution of the genuine military watch that succeeded the MilSub.

This is hands down one of the absolute best watches I’ve ever owned. I was downsized my watch collection from 22, down to 5 watches. I have the CWC RN300, the CWC SBD DD 300, an Omega Speedmaster, Elliot Brown Hilton and a Seiko SKX007. I absolutely love my CWC. I have become a big fan of CWC watches. Its the simple but chiseled design of their cases that speaks durability and longevity to me. The history of their watches means something to me. All the models I have purchased can withstand the ocean depths, bumps and scratches, and most anything I can endure it to can endure. The RN diver represents the pinnacle of CWC standards. So precise, so accurate, and the lume is excellent. Sits well on the wrist and just does not quit. In this day and age of "blingy" watches with bright colors, shiney cases, and lots of complications, there is a place for a sturdy reliable timepiece that does what it is intended to do with accuracy and precision, and can withstand the worst conditions. That speaks reliability to me. I am impressed. Great watch!! Great service from CWC. Thank you guys
