History of Cabot Watch Company CWC
Founded in 1972 by Mr. Ray Mellor, who was contracts director at Hamilton watch company, until he branched out on his own due to the lack of enthusiasm to continue contract sales at Hamilton.
He successfully won many contracts to supply the UK M.O.D. with watches to all branches of the armed forces and foreign military contracts, and quickly established Cabot Watch Company (CWC) as the foremost supplier of watches to the military, with many thousands of watches supplied.
In 1996, due to Mr. Mellor reaching retirement age, he sold Cabot Watch Company to Silvermans Ltd., who at the time had developed a good relationship buying CWC watches, retailing them to the general public.
Since then, Cabot Watch Company has continued to grow and continued to produce British military watches and supplied many contracts until recently, and many G10, GS2000, SBS, RN divers, pilots watches and clocks are still in service.
Cabot Watch Company is still able to produce timepieces for the military, however due to the cost of producing high quality timepieces in Switzerland, and the budget cuts and desire by the UK M.O.D. to procure as cheaply as possible, we cannot produce watches at such low prices as to win contracts currently.
